A successful Herdmans hearing loss claim has resulted in a £29,000.00 settlement for a former employee who developed noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus following years of exposure to excessive workplace noise.
Our client worked for many years at Herdmans in Sion Mills, where they were regularly exposed to high levels of industrial noise in the course of their daily duties. He worked in the spinning rooms, machine room then as a machinist in the Bleach Room. As was common in many workplaces at the time, hearing protection and noise control measures were not always sufficient to protect employees from the risk of long-term hearing damage.
Over time, our client began experiencing difficulty hearing conversations, particularly in busy environments. They also developed persistent tinnitus, causing a constant ringing in the ears.
As the years passed, our client began to experience increasing difficulty hearing conversations, particularly in noisy environments.
He also developed tinnitus, causing a persistent ringing and buzzing sensation in his ears. These symptoms affected both his daily life and overall wellbeing.
After seeking legal advice from MMW Claims, he decided to pursue a hearing loss compensation claim.
We arranged for our client to be examined by an ENT consultant with expertise in occupational hearing loss.
The specialist concluded that our client had developed noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus as a result of prolonged workplace noise exposure during his employment with Herdmans Limited.
We subsequently issued High Court proceedings. The Defendant's solicitors instructed their own ENT expert, who also accepted that occupational noise exposure had caused our client's hearing damage.
Following negotiations, the Herdmans hearing loss claim settled for £29,000.00.
The settlement reflected the extent of our client's hearing loss, tinnitus symptoms and the impact the condition had on his everyday life.
The claim resolved without the need for a contested court hearing.
