Norman was employed by Desmond & Sons (Desmond's) in Enniskillen and Irvinestown for approximately 7 years between 1993 and 2000. He was employed as a mechanic in the Engineering Department. He was exposed to excessive noise from machinery throughout the factories including sewing machines, grinders, welders, generators and air compressors. Unfortunately, Norman was not provided with any ear protection. As a result, he developed noise-induced hearing loss.
Norman contacted Millar McCall Wylie Solicitors to discuss a potential hearing loss claim
Norman read about our extensive experience in the area of hearing loss claims and industrial disease claims and decided to contact Millar McCall Wylie Solicitors.
We took initial instructions from Norman and arranged for him to attend for a hearing test and consultation with a Consultant ENT Surgeon. The hearing test demonstrated evidence of Noise Induced Hearing Loss. The report from the Consultant ENT Surgeon attributed his hearing loss and tinnitus as due to his time working in Desmond’s.
We sent a letter of claim to the insurers for Desmond’s and subsequently issued legal proceedings. The legal representatives of Desmond’s showed a willingness to settle the matter and we entered into negotiations with them. We successfully negotiated a settlement of £10,000.00.
