Mrs M was employed by Adria in Strabane as a machinist for approximately 36 years between 1970 and 2006. She was exposed to noise from machinery which was in constant operation throughout the working day. Mrs M was not provided with any ear protection during her employment with Adria.
Following her employment with Adria, Mrs M became aware that her hearing was deteriorating. She also suffers from tinnitus which affects her daily life. Family members and friends noticed she was increasing the volume of the television and radio and she was missing out on conversation in crowded environments.
She heard about our extensive experience in hearing loss and industrial disease claims from a former work colleague.
We took initial instructions from Mrs M and obtained her medical records and HMRC Schedule. We arranged for her to attend for an examination with a Consultant ENT Surgeon. The report from the Consultant ENT Surgeon confirmed Mrs M had Noise-Induced Hearing Loss and tinnitus due to her employment with Adria.
We initiated a claim against the insurers for Adria. We subsequently held settlement discussions with the legal representatives of Adria. Thereafter, we successfully negotiated a figure of £11,500.00 to settle Mrs M’s hearing loss claim.
