This AVX hearing loss claim resulted in a £28,000 settlement for a former AVX factory worker who developed noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus after prolonged exposure to excessive workplace noise.
Our client spent many years working in a noisy industrial environment at AVX, where loud machinery was part of the daily working conditions. Effective hearing protection and adequate noise control measures were not consistently in place, leading to permanent damage to their hearing.

We obtained independent medical evidence from an experienced ENT consultant, who confirmed that our client was suffering from noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus. Crucially, the medical evidence established that the hearing damage was caused by long‑term occupational noise exposure during her employment at AVX. We issued proceedings in the High Court of Northern Ireland. Their solicitors arranged for our client to be examined by another ENT expert who also concluded that our client's condition was caused by workplace noise exposure.
Following negotiations, this AVX hearing loss claim was successfully settled for £28,000, reflecting the extent of our client’s hearing loss and ongoing tinnitus symptoms. The settlement was achieved without the need for a contested court hearing.
